The IANEC Project
Investigation of Digital Archives of Contemporary Writers
With the digitization of the society, the proportion of born-digital content in the cultural heritage sector increases. The quantity of digital material captured from a wide range of different digital devices no longer allows for manual analysis: Digital Forensics Methods and Tools are needed to extract, identify and describe relevant information found on the devices. This raises new challenges to librarians, archivists and curators who also need help and support to manage this transition.
The IANEC project supported by the IMEC institute and the GREYC Research Lab aims to respond to this major challenge by adapting the Digital Forensics Methods to the needs of cultural heritage institutions and by developing specific Digital Investigation Tools dedicated to the analysis of cultural heritage material. Advances in AI over the last ten years have enabled the design of high-performance analysis tools.
